Sleater-Kinney did a lot of unexpected covers throughout their career. They had a distinct fondness for classic rock that I always thought was pretty great, if rather bizarre. One of my first exposures to their music was their version of Boston's "More Than A Feeling" (found on the Move into the Villa Villakula complilation and also appearing in the movie Virgin Suicides), and they even occasionally busted out a Danzig tune. For years, I've been searching for footage of them doing CCR's "Fortunate Son," and tonight I finally found it. It's not the best quality, but damn, this was a good choice for them. I saw them play this at the Showbox on the One Beat tour and it's been stuck in my head ever since:
