Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice Announce Summer Album, Tour, Lovin'

After Johnathan Rice helped write and produce girlfriend Jenny Lewis' last album Acid Tongue and sang a couple duets with her on tour last year, the two have finally decided to go steady as a musical pair, announcing a new album and national tour this summer under the moniker Jenny and Johnny (awww).

With an e-mail address, you can download "Scissor Runner" (below) from the forthcoming full-length I'm Having Fun Now, due sometime this summer (speculation and Twitter hint at August 31st). "Scissor Sister" is a retro little jaunt that combines '90s college rock vibes with a surfy, sunny retro feel and a dose of cutesiness to be expected from a couple's band.

The tour kicks off September 1 in Santa Cruz, including a few dates with Pavement, Superchunk and Belle & Sebastian. They stop in Seattle for Bumbershoot's mainstage on Monday, September 6. There's one place they definitely won't be playing, though: The duo intentionally avoided booking in Arizona in protest of SB 1070.

"JandJ," as they sign their blog posts, write:

they can stop you in the street, arrest and even deport you based on what you look like. we say: fuck that. so many of our friends and fans are of latino/chicano/hispanic origin, and we wanna show our love and respect for them by boycotting the state of arizona until they come to their senses. to all our rad southwestern peeps, we're sorry that the brutes are running the show and we hope they get voted out of office.
