It's Official: Bumbershoot Really Did Get Bob Dylan (And Weezer, Hole, Mary J. Blige, Decemberists) This Year

The irony, of course, behind Bumbershoot (Sept. 4 to 6 at the Seattle Center) landing their best lineup of mainstage headliners in over a decade, is that this is the first year you can opt of of paying to see mainstage artists ($40 for all, $22 for everything but the mainstage). Bob Dylan is without a doubt the best mainstage score Bumbershoot has ever landed. Seriously, can anything else come close? Not that I think this needs defending, but aside from his artistic genius, the guy appeals to the best parts of virtually every faction the festival shoots for: kids, yuppies, hipsters, boomers, etc.

The rest of the lineup (what's been released is after the jump) looks top notch, too: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, who just played a delightfully sloppy set at Sasquatch! are on the bill, Jamie Lidell's on board, as is Solomon Burke, and Neko Case is making an obligatory appearance. Local bands signed on include The Moondoggies, The Physics, BOAT, Zoe Muth and The Lost High Rollers, and The Redwood Plan.

Tickets are on sale now at $40 gets you access to everything and $22 gets you a ticket good for everything BUT the mainstage. Because seating in Memorial Stadium (mainstage) is limited to 22,000(ish), it is conceivable for those tickets to sell out. So, if you really, really want to see Dylan & co., it may not be a bad idea to pick 'em up in advance.
