Blonde Redhead will release Penny Sparkle, their first record since 2007's near-perfect 23 (that's not counting the soundtrack they wrote for a documentary about Dungeons & Dragons in 2008), on September 14. Penny Sparkle was produced by Alan Moulder, who has also produced records for -- take a deep breath -- Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Against Me!, Placebo, Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Them Crooked Vultures. Phew.
Right now you can download Penny Sparkle's first single, "Here Sometimes," for free -- the song is lush, sighing, and gorgeous -- classic Blonde Redhead. Click here to download.
Blonde Redhead will tour Europe in September following the record release, but that's only after they headline Capitol Hill Block Party on Saturday, July 24th.
