Nouela Johnston's stellar debut album is getting a proper national release this summer. The eponymously named People Eating People will be "officially" released by The Control Group July 6, even though it was released locally last November. (Seems like her record label is planning a serious re-launch, since her profile on The Control Group's website says "New Album out soon.") It's hard to imagine how People Eating People could be improved, since raw emotion is what makes the record so memorable.
Johnston doesn't have any local shows planned this month or next, but she'll be opening for Damien Jurado and Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground when they play New York next month.
UPDATE: Just received word from the band's camp: the re-released album is the same, great record as the November version. The Control Group kept the album initially distributed only to Seattle because Johnston wasn't able to tour extensively around the original release date.
