David Bazan Covers Vic Chesnutt's "Flirted With You All My Life"

If anyone can handle the heavy and heartbreaking nature of Vic Chesnutt's "Flirted With You All My Life," it's David Bazan. The Seattle singer-songwriter covered Chesnutt's torch song about death itself last week at Le Poisson Rouge, as part of the Radio Happy Hour podcast. "Flirted" is a song Bazan was born to sing (which Bazan himself knows, since he's covered it a few times before, including a Seattle tribute show after Chesnutt's death.) It's got references to Jesus, losing your mind, and becoming a different man as time passes--all subjects that Bazan knows too well.

Thanks to Stereogum for the tip.
