Top 5 Stevie Wonder Songs For People Who Love Spoon Songs

stevie-wonder199.jpg
When we gave away tickets to Spoon's shows tonight and tomorrow at the Moore, we made readers work for the tickets a little bit. For no reason, really, other than we were curious--and still obsessing over High Fidelity's 10-year anniversary (which I promise I will never bring up again)--we asked readers to send us their top 5 Stevie Wonder songs along with their request for tickets.

We didn't rate the tracks, we just picked winners at random, but there's nothing quite like thumbing through emails full of readers' favorite Stevie Wonder selections. Thanks to all who played. Here are the selections from the folks who are going to tonight's show:

Jesse's Picks:

1. "Superstition"

2. "Higher Ground"

3. "You Are the Sunshine of My Life"

4. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, (I'm Yours)"

5. "Pastime Paradise"

My thoughts: Few days go by that I don't give "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" a spin. A favorite of many, and for good reason: Hits so good!

Graham's Picks:

1. "All Day Sucker"

2. "Have a Talk With God"

3. "You Haven't Done Nothin'"

4. "Living For the City"

5. "Happy Birthday"

My Thoughts: "Living For the City" was played at least 10 times a day at EMP's Sky Church during my stint there in 2000. It was year until I could wander back to the original. So glad I did. Great pick.

Renee's Picks

1. "We Can Work It Out"

2. "For Once In My Life"

3. "Higher Ground"

4. "Part-Time Lover"

5. "I Just Called to Say I Love You"

My Thoughts: "We Can Work It Out" would make its way into my top 5 Beatles covers, too. Talk about a killer reinvention. "I Just Called to Say I Love You"? Own it!
