I just got off the phone with Spoon hit-writer Britt Daniel (I'll post more of the interview on Monday) to talk about things in preview of the band's pair of Moore shows on the 9th and 10th (win tickets here!). Our conversation took place just a few hours after Spoon wrapped up a show last night at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom. Sound was, um, an issue.
Here's Mr. Daniel:
I've never experienced sound this bad in 22 years being on stage playing rock shows. Somebody described it to me like playing inside a plate reverb (system). I couldn't hear my vocal or my guitar, I couldn't hear where the beat was. When I said we haven't had sound like this in 22 years everybody applauded, and I was like, "I'm not sure if you really get what I'm saying." But, whatever.
The audience was awesome. They were really loud, and they seemed to be having fun. I'm pleased.
What's the sound like (at the Moore)?
It's a hell of a lot better than WaMu Theater. If I can get a spot in on of the opera boxes, The Moore's easily my favorite places to hear a big show in this town.
