As I've mentioned before, I only listen to cassette tapes in my car, and I tend to get fixated on certain ones for weeks at a time. Right now it's a battered Maxell tape with Tom Waits' Bone Machine on one side and Crooked Fingers' self-titled debut on the other. They're excellent companion pieces, especially on a disappointingly dreary day of drizzle such as the one we are experiencing today.
Drinking songs are a dime a dozen, but I'd probably toss "New Drink For the Old Drunk" in my top ten, even without a tumbler of whiskey in my hand. This album was actually recorded during frontman Eric Bachmann's all-too-brief residence in Seattle back in 2000:
