EMP's Sound Lab's Got New Carpet, But Still Snubs Lefties (Like, Um, Hendrix)

From the day EMP opened with the smashing of a Dale Chihuly-blown guitar in 2000, it seemed strange that Jimi Hendrix, the inspiration for Paul Allen's rock and roll museum, wouldn't have been able to play a guitar in the hands-on exhibit, Sound Lab, because he was a special anomaly. Not just for his guitar playing, but because he was a lefty.

This week we received word that Sound Lab has been updated--now that kids and parents have The Beatles Rock Band at home--with new instruments, a conducting station, and new carpet. But not left-handed guitar.

Sorry, Jimi.

For those who grab picks and knives with our right hands, the new Sound Lab will be unveiled on March 27. Members get first crack at the right-handed drums, guitars, and DJ-stations between 8:30 and 10 a.m.
