Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band, with Apt Eradication and Like Wax Statues. The Vera Project, Warren Ave. N. & Republican St., 956-8372. 7:30 p.m. $9. All ages. With a new record finished and ready to release later this year, the band that gathered interest from its fake-PSA-styled promo videos is proves its not stagnating. And while they haven't stopped making chaotically pop-infused, guitar-driven rock music that draws epic amounts of energy from its heavy bass drums and spastic instrumentation, the apparent sense of confidence shines especially when they perform. All proceeds from tonight's show benefit 826 Seattle, a nonprofit writing center that helps students from age 6 to 18 develop writing skills and gives them a chance for one-on-one help with English language learning. The night's a win-win--but if you can't make it, and feel like driving across the state, MSHVB is also playing at the Birds on a Wire Festival in Pullman that's got everyone excited.
