It's January. Nothin' much to do 'round these parts. It's cold. It's drizzly. But Neumo's is serving up a stiff drink tonight that'll surely cure them Winter Blues. The Indiana-born twang-master Junior Brown! Yeah, he of the "guit-steel" hybrid and baritone vocals, the latter of which you might recognize from the Hollywood remake of hillbilly TV classic The Dukes of Hazzard. Though he can swing as hard as Bob Wills, Brown don't stop there--his work seamlessly blends twang with surf, rockabilly, mariachi, and whatever the hell else his fingers feel like conjuring from that demon instrument of his. Plus, if you squint your eyes, he sorta looks like Ernest Tubb, which is kinda neat. Doors are at 8 p.m.
I'll post a full review of the show tomorrow, if you can't make it outta the house tonight.
