I'm several days late and a dollar short with this, but that's what happens during the holidays: you lose all sense of industry and duty. Anyway, Macklemore, after enough teases on his Twitter page to drive even the most dedicated fan bonkers, finally released the video for "The Town," off his and producer Ryan Lewis' new EP, VS. It was worth the wait.
Beautifully directed by Zia Mohajerjasbi, the video is a valentine to the Seattle hip-hop scene. As such, it's stuffed with references that loop back and feed on one another like an ouroboros--a fact that inadvertently points to its one weakness: nobody who hasn't experienced the local scene first-hand is going to get it. I doubt if Macklemore cares, and I further doubt whether he should, but there, and here, it is:
