Remember When Charles Barkley Wasn't Funny? Nirvana Does

"Kurt, if you were still alive, you'd definitely be in my five."
Former pro basketball player Charles Barkley, aka "the Round Mound of Rebound," is universally heralded as the funniest sports television personality working today. Saturday Night Live, for one, is well aware of this, seeing as how Sir Charles will host the 2010 season premiere on January 9, where Alicia Keys will be the musical guest.

But it wasn't always so. Just have a gander at the first and only other time Barkley hosted the late-night sketch comedy program. Here (footage after the jump), in 1993, we see Barkley and that show's musical guest, Nirvana, attempting--lamely--to cobble together some humorous interplay in a rehearsal. (Funny aside: Nirvana bassist and Daily Weekly columnist Krist Novoselic, who is 6'6", is clearly a couple inches taller than Barkley, who was listed as standing 6'6" throughout his career.)
