David Meinert, whose Fuzed Music co-owns The Capitol Hill Block Party, and manages Blue Scholars--among other acts--had been managing PUSA since 2004.
"I am actually trimming down many of my commitments so I have more time and can focus on just the ones I'm really excited about," Meinert said in an email. "And in addition to just buying The 5 Point and opening a new place on Capitol Hill (more news on that coming soon), I'm also about to have my first child, and she will be my number 1 priority. So something had to give. They'll be fine without me though. They're awesome."
Still waiting to hear back from the boys of PUSA to hear if this signals anything new from the band that brought us such gems as "Naked & Famous," "Volcano," and "Mixed Up S.O.B." We'll keep ya posted.
Update: Frontman Chris Ballew says: ""Basically we are ready to go on to the next phase of our career and shaking things up feels healthy for all parties involved. We respect David and his management skills and hope his future is bright! We are excited to focus our business and get more streamlined for a spell as we toddle toward our happy future as a band."
Side Note: I asked Meinert if his new Capitol Hill business was purchasing the War Room and he said it was not.
