Sub Pop Signs Buzzed-About Avi Buffalo

Sub Pop Records has inked a deal to release a 7-inch and full-length LP with Avi Buffalo.
It was just last month that I caught Avi Buffalo perform at MusicFest NW, and I predicted that the young singer-songwriter would be playing to packed houses within the year. ("Avi Buffalo" is both the stage name of Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, a Long Beach, California, native, and his band's name). At just 18 years old, Buffalo has only been writing songs for three years, and his bright, pitchy pop still has a youthful, excited quality to it.

Today, the buzz around Buffalo turned into a concrete deal. Sub Pop announced that they are releasing two albums from Buffalo within the year.

Because we at Sub Pop are (still...) in the increasingly anachronistic business of putting out records... on Dec. 8th, 2009 we will be releasing "What's in It For?" b/w "Jessica" as a 7" vinyl single... One or both of these songs will also be found on the debut Avi Buffalo full-length that we are just ridiculously puffed-up about releasing in the spring of 2010.

Can't wait for the 7-inch to come out next month? Listen to "What's in It For?" below.
