Alas, The End of Vampire Weekend

Because if this track doesn't mark the end of this band's popularity, I don't know what will. I'm not saying their overblown popularity of early 2008 hasn't already waned because it has, but this should certainly finish them off. The fact that the song below is a new single that the band and its record label are promoting shows they've both got no clue what good music is. Vampire Weekend's upcoming album, Contra, is due out January 12 on XL records. By then, hipsters everywhere will hopefully be avoiding it like the plague good fashion sense and listening to something far more appealing. The song is called "Horchata." Really? Horchata. How much cultural appropriation are these dudes going to try and pull? At first, they were a quasi Afro-pop band. Now they've set their sights on bebidas Mexicanas. If their follow up single is about Taiwanese boba tea, I won't even be surprised.
