More Troubling News About DJ AM--OxyContin Overdose Cause of Death

Somewhat predictably, the news about the death of DJ AM is turning more grim than it already was. According to a story in People that came out late last night, DJ AM's death is now being looked at as a suicide. Based on reports from investigators, AM (born Adam Goldstein) had eight undigested OxyContin pills in his system when police found him and another one still lodged in his mouth. It's evidence that he swallowed the pills quickly and wanted to die. A crack pipe, a bag of crack, and other prescription pills were found at the scene as well. An unnamed source at the scene told People magazine yesterday:

"He wanted to die. He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn't even swallow it." The source followed that up by saying, Goldstein "smoked a lot of crack, barricaded the doors and killed himself,"

It's disheartening news for a variety of reasons. For starters, DJ AM claims to have been completely sober for 11 years, not only kicking a nasty drug habit, but alcohol as well. Photos of his model girlfriend, Haley Wood, were also laying near his body. The two reportedly broke up last month and that's a potential cause for Goldstein's possible suicide. The official autopsy report has yet to be released. After the jump, check out a video of DJ AM spinning in Seattle at the Showbox a few years ago.
