Bumbershoot Review: What Happened to the U.S.E. Dance Party?

u.s.e.bumbershoot.jpg
Who: U.S.E.

Where: Broad Street Stage

When: Sunday, Sept. 6, 4:15 p.m.

Maybe the first warning sign was when singer Carly Nicklaus walked onto the stage in the midst of downing a diet Red Bull. But she and her six band mates, notorious for putting on a hyperactive live show, failed to rile up the audience in their trademark fashion. The local electronic band's voices were lost in the heavy instrumentation and traffic outside the gates. The hour's only redeeming factor: keyboardist Noah Star Waver rocking out in a a fierce gold spandex leotard.
