The words you read below come straight from the Valkyries/Neon Nights tour... not me. If you don't already know, both Seattle hard rock acts are traipsing across America at the moment boozing until they nearly go blind, and then kicking ass on stage. Here's the latest dispatch I just received via email.
July 29: Salt Lake City Utah
Club: Burt's Tiki Lounge
Weather: 93 degrees with some breeze
Alcohol Status: We still have many bottles of tequila left.
Beer dropping status in the bus: James has dropped a total of 3, Matt 1
Last night we played Gusto's, and started the tour with more technical difficulties than we've had all year. Cymbal stands falling, kick drum doing the hokey pokey, bass cutting out, guitar cords falling out, tripping over mics, and skipping and starting the wrong song with each other. It can only go up from here, right folks!
One beautiful thing came out of it though, Ginnie made $100 off a bet with Lou (from the Neon Nights) that we (the Valkyries) did not play our song "Can't Win", how ironic that the song title matched Lou's financial fate at the end. Lou was convinced that we played it, even Casey and Stevie were convinced that we played it. A $100 bet was placed, and how lucky for Ginnie that James the videographer taped the whole set. Ginnie WON!!!!! (and gave James a cut of the profits).
Giro and Dickey in front of Dickey's mom's place in Pocatello Idaho with pups Clara Bell and Maxwell
This morning we set off for Salt Lake City, on the way we made a stop at tour manger Dickey's mama's place in Pocatello Idaho. Dickey's step dad Gary made the whole crew of 11 scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, and also let every single one of us use up his hot water supply with showers to get rid of the Pabst Blue Ribbon film that was left over from last night's show after we sprayed the Neon Nights and audience with bottles of it during their set. Also, we met two new furry friends, two English sheepdogs named Clara Bell and Maxwell. Thanks Gary!
