About a month ago during a Neon Nights show, Ginnie Ko (who drums for the Valkyries), mentioned that both bands were going on tour together at the end of July. Anybody that has seen either group perform knows they're two of the hardest rocking groups in Seattle. The Neon Nights (all guys) are more sweat and booze-addled hard rock while the Valkyries (all female) have a hardcore/punk aesthetic that flat out kicks-ass.
They're all currently on something called the Red White and Brew tour, (which is sponsored by a Monster Skateboard company) and criss-crossing the Western edge of America peppering audiences with pure Seattle rock. Since it's the first time that the Valkyries have ever gone on tour, I asked Ko if she wanted to pen a tour blog here on Reverb. After the jump, check out her recent email explaining a little bit of the craziness that both bands have gotten into so far. This is just day one.
And now Ko:
Two bands, two managers, one videographer, one navigator, all rockers and/or skateboarders. Our transportation of choice: a sweet and powerful bus named Susie Vansion (half van [well, really a short bus] and half mansion.)
First stop: Boise Idaho at Gusto's. Matt slept on the bus roof, James spilled two beers in the bus so far, Casey found a love for silky wrestling shorts, and Ginnie's swimsuit rides up a little too far (good looking out Stevie!).
97 degrees, 12 bottles of tequila, skating, dunking in a cold ass river, Giro's chilli doggs, mini ramp, ROCK N ROLL! PRICELESS!!!!!
