No Doubt Hits Town This Sunday

I was 11 when No Doubt released their third--but first mainstream--album Tragic Kingdom in '95. I used to sit by the radio waiting for songs like "Don't Speak" and "Spiderwebs" to come on, so that I could record them onto a cassette tape.

Since then, frontwoman Gwen Stefani has turned into a pop star/ fashion icon in her own right, losing about 20 pounds and gaining for some inexplicable reason, a Japanese school girl entourage. I don't really dig that.

But I am stoked to see her back on tour with the boys this summer. The ska-punk-pop band plays White River Ampitheater this Sunday. They have yet to record a new album and are simply performing the music catalogue they've created so far. I'm curious to see what the crowd will be like. Fans nostalgic for the '90s No Doubt like myself? Or tweens eager to see trendy gal Stefani? I'm hoping it's the former...
