Between the damn Block Party and about 9 million other obligations, coverage of the homecoming CD release party for Dejha Colantuouno at the Sunset this evening did not make it into the paper this week, which is a friggin' shame. Dejha moved to NYC a while back, but finished up a solo record and is currently touring in support of it.
She's a major veteran of the local scene here, having lent her superb, richly seductive voice to a slew of revered sources and projects, from quiet, pretty endeavors with Mark Lanegan and Shawn Smith, to take-no-prisoners punk bands like Rotten Apples and 3DS&M. Tonight, she'll be joined on stage by Kimberly Morrison of Dutchess and the Duke fame, drummer Jason Finn, and whole cast of admirable characters, including opening act Shawn Smith. Smith goes on at 9, Dejha hits the stage at 10 p.m.
