I don't know what it is about this song but it's completely stuck in my head at the moment. A few days ago, I saw a group of teenage kids from Tacoma doing this dance over at the Mt. Baker Community Center and ever since then, "You're a Jerk" has been orbiting my brain. Maybe it's because of the subtle but catchy, "Tell Me When to Go"-esque beat underneath or for the utter silliness of the lyrics. Either way, I'm hype on this track right now.
It kind of makes me think two things: the New Boyz totally jacked the Cool Kids style, and based on the way these dudes dress, the rise of black hipsters (blipsters?) is going to be the new craze at fashion outlets all summer long. It also reminds me of why Seattle needs a town dance!! Dallas has the Stanky Leg and the Ricky Bobby, Atlanta's got the A-town Stomp, New York's got the Harlem Shake, and now L.A. has a recycled version of the Jerk. Seattle needs to step its game up (literally) and come up with a town step.
