Sharing a deep love of '60s psych-pop and folk music, singer/songwriters Michael Nau and Whitney McGraw, formerly of the group Page France, are making a much bigger impression on the music world under the name Cotton Jones.
I've been listening to their debut release, Paranoid Cocoon, for the past few weeks now and it sounds like the lost Jefferson Airplane recordings. There's a lot of fuzzy psych-rock/acid drenched guitar playing going on that's equally impressive and intriguing at the same time. But the more I listen to the record, the less I understand it -- which is why I'm looking forward to seeing these guys when they show up to the Triple Door in Seattle this Friday, May 29.
The good folks at Suicide Squeeze records have given us two sets of tickets to giveaway for Friday's show. Just email us with the words Cotton Jones in the subject line and two lucky winners will be chosen at random by Friday morning. And if you haven't heard much music from Cotton Jones yet, check out this track, "Blood Red Sentimental Blues" that's been getting lot's of love from Rolling Stone lately.
