Alt-Country/Americana legend Steve Earle is in town and playing an in-store at Easy Street Records in Queen Anne this afternoon. His performance is technically slated to start in less than two hours, although I imagine it will be slightly delayed as most in-store's usually are. Earle is here promoting his newest album, Townes which is due out tomorrow. It's of course named after his musical mentor and hero, Townes Van Zandt who Earle actually had a rocky relationship with despite what most people think. The disc features 15 "cherry picked" covers of Van Zandt's best material.
I heard some of the record when Earle was here with Tom Morello during the infamous Tadgarden reunion at the Crocodile a month or two ago. The songs sounded beautiful that night and I imagine they'll sound great on the new disc. Everybody who shows up today will be getting the record a day early. If you're interested in going, I'd head that way now.
