Here's a concert announcement that just put a major smile on my face. Legendary rhythm and blues artists Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal will be touring together later this year, and making a stop in Seattle. I know some folks might initially find that pairing to be strange, but when you think about the fact that they've been friends since the late '60s and are both on the eclectic end of their respective genres, it makes sense. They're actually calling it the BonTaj Roulet tour and I can already feel that it's going to be one hell of a show. Per the press release:
"This tour is just what the doctor ordered," says Bonnie. "Taj and I have so much in common, but there's so much unexplored territory between us. It's been a long time coming, and now is the right time."
"We've been like ships passing in the night," adds Taj. "Some of my musicians used to play with Bonnie, we have so many of the same friends-this is really an opportunity to combine some forces and play some great music."
And I'm glad they're making it happen. The local date of this tour is September 6th at Chateau Ste Michelle and tickets go on sale April 25th. Everything you'll need to know about buying tickets and the show itself, you can find at this link.
