Just as it seemed our local indie rock quintet Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band couldn't get any more national blog love than they're already getting, the current king of indie rock press, Spin, posted a small feature about the band in their Must Hear section yesterday. The review, which also offers up a free download of their song "Cheers for Fate" compares that tune to a jangly, lo-fi version of something Tokyo Police Club would make.
Regardless of if you agree with that comparison, this is all a good look for MSHVB who are having their CD release party two nights from now on March 6 at Neumos. Surprisingly, tickets are still on sale for that show, which features Say Hi, and Visqueen as openers. Tickets are only $12 until Friday, and slightly higher at the door. Folks who love to champion local music should definitely come out and support this group. If for no other reason than to give them a good send-off as they head out on tour a few nights later to conquer the world.
