Prince Debuts New Website and Three New Albums

In unexpected news yesterday, rock legend Prince unveiled his somewhat, strange new Lotusflow3r website, and gave those who paid the $77 membership fee access to concert tickets, live video footage, music videos, photos, and everything else that he's been super anal about keeping off the web. The big treat, however, is that those who log onto Prince's new site can download three new albums, Lotusflow3r, MPLSoUND and his protégé Bria Valente's Elixir. I can't tell you what they sound like, cause I'm not coughing up $77 to listen to it. But I do know all three discs will be sold together as a bundle for $11.99 at Target starting March 29th. That's a pretty good price so you can't argue with that one. Although it is sad to see so many big entertainers doing exclusive deals like this with big box retailers and leaving mom and pop record stores out of the loop.

Anyway, if anybody has gone onto the site, I'm curious to hear what people think about it I've already read there are some glitches regarding bandwidth and even logging in. There's apparently a riddle where users (i.e. paying customers) still have to answer a question directly before they can gain access. That's kind of funny when you think about it. Also, in even more random news, Prince is doing a three-night stand on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, starting in the next few days. It looks like NBC is getting hip about the music they have on their late-night TV shows.
