Rough Trade Records artist and Portland resident Alela Diane (pictured) is one of my favorite voices in current folk music. And aside from her recent sophomore release, To Be Still, she's also provided the pipes as part of Headless Heroes, a loosely assembled, motley crew of musicians-- Hugo Nicolson, Josh Klinghoffer, Woodrow Jackson III, Gus Seyffert, Alela Diane, Leo Abrahams, Joey Waronker, Dirty Pretty Strings, Pocketknife, Mike G., Irana Douer, Sarah Lynn Graves, & Eddie Bezalel-- who made a cover album of songs by artists like Daniel Johnson, Nick Cave and the Jesus and Mary Chain, among others. It's called The Silence Of Love, and while it doesn't come out until May 19, until then, you can listen to the whole thing and download a free mp3 by entering your e-mail address (the download link doesn't make it clear which song you're getting, but it turned out to be the first track, "True Love Will Find You In The End," in case anyone was wondering.) My favorite, though, is "Just One Time."
