I don't know what all this entails but it seems like it could be a lot of fun. According to this flyer, there's a new African music night at Waids--my favorite (and possibly the only) Haitian restaurant in Seattle. DJ's Jigsy, Onelove, and Ziggy are going to be spinning fresh Kwaito, hiplife, and soukous jams all night and there will be live music from Gambian artist Sincateh--who also goes by the name Freaky Joe for some reason. I'm not trying to find out why. But I do want to check this out. From what I already know about hiplife, the West African mashup of hip-hop and hi-life, it's something that world music lovers definitely need in their life. I'm so glad Waid's is willing to put on shows like this. $10 cover, ladies free before 10 p.m., 21& up.
