I'm shocked the Triple Door didn't burn down last night. Local '80s cover band 80s Invasion (great band, awful name) took the stage with a set that included songs by the Bangles, Journey, and Dead or Alive. And people were into it. They were dancing and waving around the candles they picked up off tables. Because being drunk and playing with fire is always a smart thing to do.
Regardless of that whole incident, 80s Invasion put on a great show. You can tell the guys really love their '80s music in all its heavily synthesized glory. They do a killer rendition of Depeche Mode's "All I Ever Wanted" and lead singer Stefan Mitchell can really rock the leather pants.
My birthday's this weekend and I'm tempted to throw a party just so I can hire them to play.
