I happen to adore Drug Rug, a Black & Greene Records band from Massachusetts that I saw last year at the Doug Fir in Portland. It is a "couple band," if you will: the two core members are Thomas Allen and Sarah Cronin, and they write rootsy psychedelic music that is incredibly pleasant to listen to when it's nice outside. At the show, they sang a song about eating apples in the shade that just about made my head explode with cuteness. Catchy stuff, people, catchy stuff. It gives me that warm feeling in my stomach. Kinda like spiced cider, or a shot of good tequila. So go stream their new tour EP, Kitchen Tapes, and you can even download "Sooner The Better" if you like what you hear. The band's also got a new full-length in the works for 2009, which hopefully means they're going to do a tour that includes the West Coast, not this Southeastern US-only bullshit the press release subject heading got my hopes up with. Curses!
