One of the greatest voices in the history of reggae music undeniably belongs to Barrington Levy. He's the man behind some of the greatest '80s dancehall tunes of all time: songs like "Here I Come," "Murderer," "Too Experiened," and a litany of others. No proper reggae collection is complete without his material, and if you haven't seen him live, I can vouch that's he's amazing every time he takes the stage.
I was excited when I saw a flyer in San Francisco last week announcing that he was coming to the Bay Area. I thought to myself at the time, 'if Barrington is coming to San Fran, he's probably doing a West Coast tour and hopefully, he'll hit Seattle too.' Turns out I was right and he's gracing Seattle with his presence next Tuesday, January 27, at the Nectar Lounge in Fremont.
Tickets are $20 in advance, slightly higher at the door, the flyer promises "special guests" whatever that means, and you have to be $21 to get in. But if you're a serious reggae lover, this show is NOT to be missed. After the jump, check out one of the best ganja tunes, ever written: "Under Mi Sensi."
