Ancestors and Night Horse perform with Elephant Rider at the Sunset on Wednesday (starts at 9 p.m., costs $6), and while Raechel Sims wrote up Elephant Rider, I wanted to mention two Los Angeles bands on the bill, Ancestors and Night Horse. Ancestors is a five-piece experimental doom metal band that just put out a conceptual album, Neptune With Fire, that is comprised of exactly two songs that are almost 17 and 22 minutes long, respectively; Night Horse, meanwhile, conjure big hair metal circa 1984, only the band members don't sport teased 'dos or Spandex. They just put out a record called The Dark Won't Hide You. I have posted two mp3s below for your consideration. Oh, and both bands are also playing the Josephine on Friday the 9th, if you can't do the Wednesday night thing.
