2008 didn't start off too hot, but it has certainly been ramping up in a good way as it draws to a close. Yeah, I know the economy is bullshit and nobody has health insurance or a job. But dig...Obama's president, Hillary is secretary of state, and Oprah's going vegan. 2009 is shaping up to be pretty sweet, wouldn't you say? Top that off with a new Thomas Pynchon book due out in August and...
Anyway, let's dwell on the past a bit shall we? Our good friends at Light In the Attic have compiled their 2nd Annual Year-End Extravaganza, which required their friends, acquaintances, and lovers to contribute "best of whatever in 2008" lists. The cool thing about Light in the Attic's list compilation is that it's not limited to "best records". You've got label boss Matt Sullivan professing his love of The Wire and Ballard tapas spot, Ocho. You've got local filmmaker Jennifer Maas running down her favorite recipes of 2008. You've got Tilson of the Saturday Knights noting his appearance in Ukranian Playboy as the #1 highlight of his year. And you've got yours truly talking about how cool it was to meditate at a monastery in Hawaii. So, hop on over and check out the awesomeness.
