I'm sitting at my desk right now listening to John Cale's rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on the Basquiat soundtrack. It gets me to thinking what my favorite version of Hallelujah is between: (a) Cohen, (b) Cale, (c) Jeff Buckley, and (d) Rufus Wainwright. Here, I probably choose Rufus by a whisker over Buckley. But if your tastes run a little gruffer than rangy, pansexual perfection, you'll doubtless opt for either of the elder statesmen. So who's it gonna be?
