SIFF Must-See: Heavy Metal in Baghdad


It's understandable to think of Vice as a mini-media empire capable only of dishing out pop-culture savvy snark and questionable fashion advice, but they've actually matured to surprising degrees in some areas, most notably when it comes to video and film. They did a series of very cool shorts on the gentrification and environmental decay in Brooklyn last year and they are now responsible for bringing us Heavy Metal in Baghdad. It's quite possibly the most terrifying and moving music documentary I've seen, and it's part of SIFF's opening weekend.
