One of Greenwood's most beloved dives, the Baranof, is for sale, according to reliable sources. While the bar's reportedly been on the market for awhile, the death of its owner a few months ago makes a potential sale more imminent, and encroaching gentrification has longtime patrons nervous about what might become of their trusty watering hole under new ownership. For those of you who would like to see the Baranof retain its considerable integrity under whoever the new owner ends up being, start drinking there more frequently -- immediately. There is no better form of persuasion than a healthy bottom line when it comes to convincing skeptics that a place is worth preserving. And there are few places more worthy of preservation than the Baranof. Just ask the Seafair Pirates.
