This was the best afternoon we've ever had. A little over an hour ago, we (Chris Kornelis, Aja Pecknold, and myself) were taken for a drive by none other than Tilson and Spence from The Saturday Knights!!! We piled into Tilson's black Land Rover and took a cruise up 15th to Ballard, waved goodbye to Sunset Bowl, rolled up 46th past Fremont Ave to Aurora, went back downtown, swung around a few blocks downtown (where Tilson mysteriously disappeared into Nordstrom) only to be dropped off right back here at the office! All the while we were treated to The Saturday Knights new album Mingle, which absolutely rips. As we walked back into the building, I said "Goddamn, that record is really good." And Aja replied: "Oh I know...but you knew it would be."
In publicity pull quote-style, here's our account of riding with The Saturday Knights (video and more photos to come)
"Mingle is that feeling that starts way down deep, and builds and builds and builds to the point where all control over one’s own body is completely lost and you find yourself at the mercy of the music- fists pumping and head nodding at a rate you never though possible- non-stop until the record ends. And then, all you want is to do it all over again." Aja Pecknold
"When I was a kid, my dad would play Creedence when we he was behind the wheel. When I'm a dad -- with patches on my elbows -- my kids will be bopping their heads to 'Private School Girl.'" Chris Kornelis
"Riding with Tilson and Spence from The Saturday Knights? Best car ride I've ever been on...and I've rode in a shitload of cars in my time." Brian Barr
