I'm actually beyond excited about this. Beck hasn't played Bumbershoot since 1997 (my first year at the fest), and I still remember it as my favorite Bumbershoot performance yet. Though, my friends who were at The Fastbacks during that same time slot, swear I made the wrong decision.

More artists to be announced in mid July. We'll keep y'all posts on all the gossip between now and then.

Some of the Acts:

Beck, Stone Temple Pilots, Lucinda Williams, Neko Case, Ingrid Michaelson, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Jakob Dylan, !!!, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Saul Williams, Joe Bonamassa, M. Ward, The Walkmen, Asylum St. Spankers, Dan Deacon, MIDIval PunditZ, Blitzen Trapper, Bedouin Soundclash, Tim Finn, Dale Watson, John Vanderslice, Final Fantasy, The Fall of Troy, Orgone, Forro in the Dark, Ryan Bingham, Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby, Arthur & Yu, Darondo and Nino Moschella, Pacifika and many more to be announced.

More acts after the jump.

More From the press release:

Of course, the Festival features much more than music—it's home to 20 unique venues and a full range of arts including comedy, regional theatre (co-curated by Theatre Puget Sound), the 1 Reel Film Festival (curated by the Seattle International Film Festival), Flatstock, the Indie Market, and the ever popular Literary, Performance, and Visual Arts programs.

This year's Literary Arts program welcomes graphic novelists Dan Clowes and Adrian Tomine, sci-fi legend William Gibson, a special edition of Starlee Kine and Arthur Jones' Post-It Note Reading Series, authors Nathan McCall, Francesca Lia-Block, Kevin Sessums, and more.

The Visual Arts' exhibits will showcase the Gage Academy's Drawing Jam (giving attendees a taste of the classical art studio); "The Power of One," a monumental photo and multimedia exhibit that explores the ways individuals make an impact in society (be it war, peace, environment, etc) curated by Marita Holdaway of Benham Gallery; a collection of local and national contemporary video work from The Henry Art Gallery (including work by performance artists Grand Openings from New York); a special "One Pot" residency and exhibit from food adventurer Michael Hebberoy; and The Seattle-Tehran Poster Show (a reprisal of last year's hit Seattle-Havana Poster Show that's now installed in the National Gallery in Havana).

The Festival's penchant for playful performance continues with Strange Fruit, a performing arts company that hails from Melbourne, Australia, fusing theatre, dance and circus, perched atop 12-foot poles. A bit closer to home (and the ground) will be an outdoor table as part of the One Pot residency, and site-specific installations by regional artists.

Bumbershoot is proud to present a brand new collaboration between San Francisco-based choreographer Joe Goode and New York-based puppeteer Basil Twist. The performance, called "Wonderboy," features a distinctive blend of dance and theatre; it debuts this summer at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts and then travels to Bumbershoot. Also on the program are performances from the Pacific Northwest Ballet and a slate of regional and national performance companies.

When we expanded our comedy program to three stages last year, we wondered if we were crazy. Apparently not—all three venues, including the new Northwest comedy stage at the Vera Project, were huge crowd favorites, each featuring the freshest comedians from around the nation and here at home. The three stages will return in 2008 with a complete comic lineup to be announced this summer.
