..I thought I'd sit in front of the iMac for six solid hours going through photos from the magical weekend of rock I had here at home. I spent Thursday and Friday celebrating ten years of Harvey Danger at the Triple Door with hundreds of HD-Hardcores from all over the United States. Evening 1: Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone? in its entirety + B-Sides and an excellent cover of "Oh! You Pretty Things." Evening 2: All of the beloved King James Version and their latest Little by Little... Nebraska/Alaska (a combination of the bands Palmer, AK and Ships) made the crowd swoon, opening both nights.
Saturday night, I soldiered on to the Tractor Tavern for Mark Pickerel & His Praying Hands' CD release party for Cody's Dream. I love the new record. I loved the openers, Star Anna and the Fucking Eagles (who do a rollicking cover of "Nothing but a Heartache" by the 60's girl group the Flirtations), and of course Mark held the audience captive with his cowboy boot shuffling. It took me many hours before I finally slept off all that whiskey.
