Tip: Don't buy your tickets when they first go on sale. This show ain't gonna sell out. In fact, I'm betting LiveNation will be sell discount lawn seats when the date gets closer.
FYI: Counting Crows are on Letterman tonight, and their first album since 2002, Saturday Night and Sunday Mornings, drops tomorrow. Watch the video for the first single, "You Can't Count on Me."
The recently announced “co-headlining” tour with Counting Crows and Maroon 5 is interesting, if only because the pair shared the bill on a tour in the summer of 2003. Only that tour was the Crows' co-headlining jaunt with John Mayer, and a relatively unknown radio band called Maroon 5 was opening the show. I caught the show at The Gorge that summer, but the only Maroon 5 I saw was when the band joined the Crows for “Hanginaround.” Adam Duritz gave the band his blessing and encouraged the audience to support the band, mentioning how hard it was to get a start in the business.
That was a bizarre show, too, because Mayer closed the show, which, five years ago, was a real head scratcher. What the hell was John “Your Body is a Wonderland” Mayer doing headlining over the Crows? I expect Maroon 5 to close out the White River show, too, which means, if you're like me, you can bail early and skip the hellish traffic on the way home. Every time I see a show at White River, I get stuck in traffic that makes me swear up and down that I'll never see a show there again. And I haven't for quite a while.
