You gotta love King Cobra booking agent Jenny Bendel. The girl's got a huge heart, boundless enthusiasm for hard-edged classic rock and punk, and a sweet way with philanthropic puns. She's now taking the initiative to host a monthly benefit for MusiCares that she's dubbed "the Cobra Plan." Details below, from the lovely lady herself:
"One of the things I'm most excited and proud about at King Cobra is going to be a monthly MusiCares benefit show, I'm calling Cobra Plan. Each month I'll pick a band to pay tribute to, backline the whole thing, and have all-star guests and mashed up band line-ups covering the chosen artist's songs.
At the end of the night, all the door proceeds will go to MusiCares, the official charity of the Grammys. They take real good care of us music folk who are in distress, injured and can't work, need rehab, etc etc. Chances are if you're involved in music, you or someone you know and love will need MusiCares' help someday.
What makes this extra special is that the owners of King Cobra have also generously offered up some kind of door match in dollars from the bar sales during the show! When I said we're going to work real hard to be positive contributors to the local music community, I meant it.
The debut of COBRA PLAN at King Cobra will be March 20th, and we'll be paying tribute to the mighty THIN LIZZY. The Cobra Plan debut show will also include a special visit from a Grammy representative who'll be making an announcement about one of their cool new programs for us uninsured artists."
Bendel is also donating her booker's percentage from the monthly event. And hell, she couldn't have picked a better inaugural band. All hail Thin Lizzy!
