The good folks over at Hollow Earth Radio, who Brian J. Barr profiled awhile back, are celebrating their year anniversary, and new non-profit status with a community celebration dubbed the Hollow Earth Radio Magma Festival during the month of March and this is just a slice of it:

Local D.I.Y. venues around town including Dearborn on Woodland, The Office of Doctor Glorious, The Greenhouse, The Fusion Cafe, and Healthy Times Fun Club will be hosting live musical performances all month as part of the Magma Festival. Some of the performers include Kimya Dawson, LAKE, Talbot Tagora, R.B. Reed, Corespondents, Huh-Uh, World History, Your Heart Breaks, The Solvents, Diminished Men, The Webelos, The Pica Beats, Beast, Please Be Still, Dennis Driscoll, Led to Sea, Shana Cleveland, Snowman Plan and more. At the March 1st show at Fusion Cafe with Kimya Dawson and Angelo Spencer, H.E.R. DJs will be performing an in-person radio play about journeying to the center of the Earth, (sock puppets included). Two shows (Feb 28th & Mar 2nd) will be for a cd release of Seattle's own quarterly audio compilation, Ball of Wax. Select performances throughout the month will broadcast live on location on Hollow Earth Radio.

Full release after the jump!

Hollow Earth Radio (H.E.R.), an online community radio based in Seattle, is hosting Hollow Earth Magma Festival for the entire month of March. We have been around for more than a year now, we just received nonprofit status, and we'd like to celebrate with the community. We hope to raise funds during this Festival to keep H.E.R. a sustainable community resource. We believe strongly that, though there are a plethora of amazing media outlets in this city, Hollow Earth remains distinct in making it easy for amateur broadcasters and volunteers to participate in creating their own media. We are proud of this and want to continuing doing this work.

So with that in mind, we're hosting an incredible amount of diverse events and we're blown away with what we've managed to organize. Windows Art Gallery (42nd & Woodland Ave N) will be hosting an art exhibit curated by Amber Morgan and Garrett Kelly (H.E.R. founders) entitled "Cabinet of Found Wonders" March 7th during the Fremont ArtWalk. This show will exhibit found art and music by local and nationally recognized collectors including Jacob Smigel, Friends and Relatives Records, Sweet Thunder Tapes, and Found Magazine. Amber Morgan and Garrett Kelly have assembled their first collection of found sound for release at this art opening, kicking off a new series of albums entitled "Analog America." They will also be performing an improv mix of found sounds and field recordings with Olie Eshleman and Jason Kopec at the opening.
