Year end lists can be such a drag. As I'm sure you know, most music nerds love to argue and daring to state a mere preference means subjecting yourself to unbridled criticism of your taste. When people go off on one of these musical tangents, I like to call it getting all "Seattley". (even though I've been subjected to it plenty here in NYC. Hello, Williamsburg!) It's an attitude nicely summed up by the above Venn diagram or that joke about how many hipsters it takes to change a light bulb.
Anyway, I'm not pretending these are indisputably the most fabulous records made this year, they're just the ones that resonated with me.
And with that, I give you #7 in my top 7 of '07:
Because every boy I loved before I turned 18 loved metal and because I still really, really love coffee.
