Swervedriver Un-hiatus-ing!

Never lose that feeling...

Anyone who knows me knows that Swervedriver is one of my favorite bands ever -- I saw the kickass British shoegazers (whose tunes were a lot more muscular and intense than most in the genre) live probably six or seven times in the early- and mid-'90s, and had the pleasure of interviewing them on several occasions.  So I'm thrilled to report that after a decade-long hiatus, Swervedriver's publicist announced today that the quartet -- singer-guitarist Adam Franklin, guitarist Jimmy Hartridge, bassist Steve George, and drummer Jez -- is reuniting for a full-scale tour in 2008, with dates to be announced soon. If you never got a chance to see them the first time around, you definitely don't wanna miss 'em.  Coupled with the impending My Bloody Valentine reunion/tour (conventional wisdom has MBV headlining next year's Coachella festival), this news should make the hearts of dedicated shoegazers everywhere burst with joy.

Now if only Jawbox would do a reunion tour and Fugazi would end its hiatus, too ...

(I grabbed the set list below at a Swervies show at Tramps in NYC circa 1997; the last time I interviewed them was the following day ... "We'll be back," Franklin signed it.  Yep, 10 years later!)
