One of the best (and loudest) shows I saw during my time in Seattle was Bob Mould's gig at Neumo's around this time two years ago. With an ace band that included Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty, Mould cranked out a bunch of Husker Du and Sugar gems alongside his solo work, which over the years has ranged from exceedingly terrific to eminently forgettable. Anyway, that night everything sounded great, and now Mould is coming back to town -- specifically to Chop Suey next Friday, October 12th -- to celebrate the DVD release of Circle of Friends, which was filmed during that late-2005 tour at Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club. For this appearance, Mould's gonna play a 30-minute-or-so acoustic set, spend a half-hour doing a Q&A session, host a screening of the DVD, and sign copies for fans. Should be a pretty cool evening.
