On Sunday afternoon, I found myself trooping down to the AT & T store in need of a new phone, as mine had just broken into two pieces. As I braced myself for the iPhone induced insanity that could possibly await- I bumped intothe Hands frontman (and valued Hawthorn Audio star employee) John Healy on his way to work.
He assured me that it shouldn't be a zoo down there, as the AT &T store was all out of iPhones. How did he know? He'd waited in line himself for six hours and scored one on the first day of release which he then proudly displayed for me. The Google Maps feature on his phone was set to the Funhouse which he'd been looking at the night before- something that should come in handy as the boys will soon hit the road for a brief tour, then return to work on their forthcoming full-length which they're aiming to have ready by February.
A little further down the road, in front of Neumo's there were people spilling out on to the sidewalk including Grayskul'sOnry Osborne and JFK, who was decked out in scarecrow gear. Turns out the boys had taken over the club to film their video for "Scarecrow," a track off of their follow up to 2005's Deadlivers, due out on Rhymesayers in September after which the hardworking Seattle rappers will hit the (yellow brick) road as well.
And, just like Dorothy, my journey had a happy ending. A free, now totally pase, Razor phone (with a mail-in rebate). Now I just have to figure out how to make Lil Mama's Lip Gloss song my ringtone.
