While all those crazy Prince fans are lining up outside the 5th Avenue Macy's to get their hands on a $31.21 bottle of the Purple One's new 3121 Perfume, elsewhere, at the the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park section of Brooklyn Bridge Park, the legendary Japanese noise-freak masters Boredoms, who are celebrating their 20th Anniversary, will be throwing "77 BOADRUM" a FREE concert of epic proportions, featuring 77 drummers. As I mentioned way back in December, when the concept was still in it's early planning stages, if it is to go off as planned, it will be HUGE.
A couple months ago, Boredoms put out a call for NY-area volunteer drummers, and "members of Gang Gang Dance, No Neck Blues Band, Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Excepter, Sightings, Oneida, and more" have answered. Slingerland drums answered too, co-sponsoring the event, and who we presume are donating the 77 five-piece, three cymbal sets everyone will play.
This momentous occasion kicks off at 4pm with First Nation and Soft Circle and DJ sets from Gang Gang Dance before the 77-minute 77BOADRUM commences.
